GLASS EXPANSION – PORT MELBOURNE

BACKGROUND
Large manufacturer of specialised medical glass products. Total Solar was approached as Glass Expansion sought to deal with a reputable installer who could provide quality advice and installation. Our site-specific assessment revealed prolific coastal birdlife, with much of the roof area subjected to a considerable volume of bird droppings.  For this reason, wecarefully designed this 300 kW solar system with particular attention to ease of practical solar panel cleaning over time, as well as utilising multiple additional inverters to provide greater redundancy whereby if sections of solar panels in Melbourne are soiled, the energy production losses are isolated. While the multiple additional inverters increased the upfront installation cost, the customer’s actual energy savings have demonstrated that the design was highly successful from an upfront cost vs energy benefit over time perspective.
