The long-awaited Tesla Powerwall 3 has arrived in Australia!
Tesla Powerwall 2 proved to be possibly the most reliable and effective home battery system ever released to market, and as a proud Tesla Certified Installer we have installed hundreds of Tesla Powerwall 2 battery systems for happy customers.
The new Tesla Powerwall 3 has all the smarts and reliability of the previous model, but now also incorporates its own solar inverter. So, if you don’t already have a solar system, this option will be a more cost-effective solution by reducing hardware costs and system complexity. It also has an extremely safe LiFePO4 battery chemistry and runs much more efficiently (lower electrical losses) than if you had a separate solar inverter.
Tesla Powerwall is a battery for your home which allows you to store power to use later. Connected to a solar system, it stores excess power produced by the solar system which would otherwise be exported to the grid.
Powerwall also detects power outages and will automatically become your home’s energy source when the grid goes down. If designed and installed correctly, the Powerwall may also be able to keep your solar system running during an outage – greatly extending your home’s off-grid running time. Reducing your reliance on the grid dramatically reduces your home’s electricity costs and carbon footprint.

CONNECT WITH THE TESLA APP
Tesla Powerwall is connected to the Tesla app, where you can monitor your home’s energy production and consumption in real time. You can set your preferences to optimise your energy independence, outage protection or savings. Instant alerts and remote access allow you to control your system from anywhere.
Powerwall systems consist of at least one Powerwall battery and Backup Gateway. Backup Gateway provides energy management, metering and monitoring functions for Powerwall. It controls connection to the grid, safely disconnects your home and starts backup operation during an outage. Backup Gateway includes communication functions for up to 4 Powerwall units.
The Powerwall comes with an industry-leading 10-year warranty. Tesla guarantees the battery will maintain at least 70 percent of its original capacity during that time period.
You may also be eligible to get additional annual revenue from your Tesla Powerwall by joining Tesla’s ‘Virtual Power Plant’ (VPP). Tesla also extend your warranty to 15 years as a ‘thank you’ for participating in that program. Talk to our team to learn more about how this works.

How much solar can I connect to a Powerwall 3?
Up to 20 kW of solar panels can be connected to a Powerwall 3 – impressive!
Can I install Powerwall 3 if I already have a Powerwall 2?
No you cannot. Powerwall 3 is not compatible with Powerwall 2. Keep in mind though, there is no benefit in doing this because if you have an existing Powerwall 2, you currently can still purchase another Powerwall 2 to expand your storage.
How big is Powerwall 3?

Does Powerwall 3 have a safe battery chemistry?
Powerwall 3 now has the very popular battery chemistry ‘Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4)’ because it has an extremely low risk of fire and good energy density. The Powerwall 2 battery chemistry was ‘Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (LiNiMnCoO2)’.
What is the warranty of the Powerwall 3?
Powerwall 3 has the same strong warranty terms of 10 years. See their product warranty sheet for further information.
Can Powerwall 3 be installed for a fully off-grid home?
While Powerwall 3 can protect your property when a grid outage occurs, it cannot be installed at a property that’s permanently off-grid.
How much is Tesla Powerwall 3?
Each installation is unique, so please contact us for a quote. There are still fantastic rebates and government-funded interest-free loans (eligibility conditions apply) available for solar battery systems.
Can I install a Powerwall 3 if I already have solar?
Yes you can. Powerwall 3 supports a wide range of solar inverter brands and models – so it is easy to retrofit. Up to four Powerwall 3’s can be installed per site.
Is Powerwall 3 bigger than the Powerwall 2?
While the storage capacity of both units remains the same at 13.5 kWh usable energy, the physical dimensions of Powerwall 3 are slightly larger because of the solar inverter inside of the new model.
Does Powerwall 3 support 3-phase power?
Yes. Just like Powerwall 2, it can be installed on a 3-phase property. However, you can only blackout protect one of the three phases during an outage. Talk with our expert consultants or electricians so we can identify the best way to configure your home’s blackout protection as part of our installation.
Is the Tesla Powerwall 3 more powerful than the Powerwall 2?
Yes, it is capable of a significantly higher discharge capacity (up to 10 kW). Keep in mind that your Distributor may not approve this full discharge amount depending on where you live and how much solar and storage you already have connected. If approved to install the full 10 kW discharge, Powerwall 3 can potentially run more appliances during an outage than the previous model (Powerwall 2 discharge specifications: 5 kW continuous, 7 kW peak).
