The current government solar stc reduction provides a significant discount towards the upfront cost of a solar panel system in Australia. For a 5kW rooftop solar system, the benefit currently is $3990.
This will be phased out gradually from the 1st of January 2017. The reduction will reduce by one-fifteenth of its current amount on the first day of each new year until 2030 and will end on the 31st of December that year. For example – On January 1st, the benefit for a 5kW rooftop solar system will be reduced by $266 and drop to $3724. This phased reduction will continue every year until 2030.
