Solar Victoria has recently announced that the Solar Panel Rebate under the Solar Homes Program will reduce from $2,225 to $1,888 this year.
This means householders who sent in their Solar PV application after 1st of January 2020 will receive a rebate up to $1,888, if the application is successful. The no-interest loan is still available, and will match the rebate amount up to $1,888.
The rebate, although reduced, still gives eligible households an opportunity to invest in a better quality solar system that is safer, more efficient and more durable.
The Victorian government announced the Solar Homes Program last July, providing rebates for solar PV systems, battery storage systems, as well as solar hot water systems. Solar Victoria also announced interest-free loans for solar PV systems.
Response to the Solar Homes Program has proven to be very popular, with solar PV applications quickly and fully subscribed when released.
To meet the growing demand for solar and to ensure a safe and orderly roll-out, Solar Victoria has set a target number of rebates which will be approved each month. Once this number has been reached, they will likely pause application submissions until the start of the next round in the next month.
The Solar Homes Program will run over 10 years, and is expected to support the installation of more than 650,000 solar PV systems in Victoria.
